The New York City Metro Area Chapter of the American Statistical Association, in collaboration with The Educational Psychology Ph.D. Program of the City University of New York and The School of Education and Psychology of Touro College in New York, sponsored their First Annual Statistical Poster Competition for Grades K-12 in New York City, to help teachers and schools enrich students’ understanding of statistics and data in general. The competition is a professional resource for teachers and students to apply statistics. To that end, it not only supports the teaching of mathematics, but it ultimately benefits New York City’s educational community.
All participating students, teachers, and schools, are to be commended for the effort that was put into the preparation and creation of the posters, and are invited to an Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Judges based their decision on the overall impact, clarity of the message, appropriateness of the graphics, and creativity of the poster.
